Online Dating Profile for Women

Creating A Man-Attracting Online Dating Profile: A Primer For Women

There you are. Sitting in front of your computer at the online dating site you just signed up for. What should you put on your online dating profile? Should you tell about your funky little toe or your ability to tight-rope walk? Should you keep it generic till you get to know the guy better?

First of all, you need to get in the right mood. What makes you feel confident and alive? Put on your favorite perfume, your favorite blues CD or whatever it is that is totally you. Now you are ready to make yourself come alive in that profile.

Find a really good picture of yourself. Do not use a stock photo of someone else. The picture needs to be one of you. Do not use the webcam to take a picture and avoid the MySpace shot with your hands held way up over your head, taking the picture at a funny, overhead angle.

Some online research has shown that people who post pictures of themselves doing something get more responses. If you play guitar, post a picture of you playing the guitar. But, make sure your face is showing clearly, not just the top of your head. Your photo is what will cause him to stop and read your profile… Or pass it by.

Anyone can say that they are caring, intelligent and love music. Who would not say that about themselves? Make your profile description of yourself specific. Give details about what you like to do. Tell why or how you got interested in the first place. It is the details that will separate you from everyone else. The details are what makes you unique.

Honesty is still the best policy. Do not lie about your weight, your age or anything else. While you do not have to give your actual weight or age, you can give a general idea of these things. You can use words like curvy, toned, slender, fit, fluffy and pleasingly plump to describe your body type. For age, if you do not want to include your actual age, you can use descriptors like mid-50s, late 30s and so forth.

You do want to include that you are a single parent of two children (if you are) or that you have your kids every other weekend. A sad, but true fact is that some people may not want to pursue a relationship with a person who has children. You want to weed those people out of possible companions right at the start, if you have children.

Write your words out in standard English, Spanish, German or whatever language your profile is written in. Do not write your profile using text abbreviations. When you are finished writing, use the spell check function and re-read what you have written, checking for mistakes. Reading your profile aloud will give you another perspective on how it comes across. The voice in your head sounds different than speaking the words verbally.

Writing an online dating profile that stands out from the crowd may take some time; however, it will be time well spent. A well-written profile will attract people who are interested in the real you, which is the whole point of online dating, isn’t it?
