eHarmony is such a popular dating site, that it is definitely a big contender in the online dating market.  I had to check it out to see what all the fuss was about.  Read on for my Eharmony review.

What is the BEST feature of eHarmony?

From my experience, the absolute best feature offered in the eHarmony program is the method that they use for matchmaking compatibility, because of the way it works to analyze your personality “dimensions”, which are the true key to making a great match. Once eHarmony gets all of this data they search their system and strategically match you with other people that the data says would be compatible with you. I found out that they actually spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in continuing research about the study of human relationships and compatibility, and then they incorporate their findings into the structure of the website.

eHarmony Cons?

When compared to other online dating programs, the eHarmony website charges between $10-20 more each month for their membership services. This is probably because the eHarmony program has been designed to be more “high end” and results-oriented rather than just a “hook up” kind of website. The people that join the eHarmony program are seriously searching for a long-term relationship. Perhaps the higher rate has been designed to wean out the folks who are looking to play deceptive games, cheat on a spouse or find a one-night stand.

So perhaps when people say that eHarmony is too expensive they should consider and think about the following:

If you were going out on dates using computer-generated match ups from another online dating service, but weren’t being matched up with people that were totally compatible with you on so many levels like the people are at eHarmony, how much money would you be wasting going out with people that aren’t even right for you? If you think about it from that perspective, the cost of just a single “bad” date with someone you have nothing in common with is worth paying the extra cash each month to join a reputable, professional service like eHarmony.

Many experts and reviewers have named eHarmony as the “premier” online dating service when compared to other services. Every year millions of people join the eHarmony program in an attempt to find a truly compatible partner who is also looking to establish a long-term relationship. The patented matchmaking system that eHarmony uses analyzes specific key “dimensions” of each applicant’s personality, giving them the ability to create successful matches. If you are looking for a successful, long-term relationship, you can feel secure in knowing that these “dimensions” used by eHarmony are proven scientific indicators of what matters most in creating a quality match.

Review of the eHarmony Online Dating Program

As far as online dating websites go, eHarmony.com is a very unique type of program. Other online dating services require their members to write paragraphs of information to describe themselves and what they are looking for in a mate, and then on top of that, ask them to search through galleries of photos for hours on end, hoping and praying to find someone that stands out from the crowd.

eHarmony does all this for you – upon registration you simply fill out a questionnaire that focuses on your personality profile. It only takes approximately 30-45 minutes to fill out the entire profile, but when you are finished eHarmony analyzes the information and gives you a complete and detailed report about yourself. Once your personality profile has been established, eHarmony analyzes the data which is bsed on hundreds of different “dimensions,” revealing other member profiles that are compatible with your own.

The questionnaire is also used for a couple of additional purposes:

#1 – It helps to sort out people that are not looking for serious, long-term relationships. This prevents people that are just looking for a “hook up” from wanting to spend the time signing up for the program.

#2 – It helps to paint a better picture of your whole personality in order to help you find other members that are truly compatible with you on multiple levels.

Once you complete your personality profile, navigating the rest of the eHarmony website is really very simple to do. You are allowed to view the profile and photos of the people that eHarmony lists as being compatible with you, complete with lots of details in an easy-to-use format.

Depending upon the settings of their accounts, some members even make their personality analysis results available for viewing. This can be amazingly insightful, but because most of this information is very personal, eHarmony is careful to ensure that your information is not released to another member until you are ready to share.

After you review the list that you have been given by eHarmony and have found the member(s) that you want to send a communication to, you will enter into a process called “Guided Communication.”

eHarmony Guided Communication Process

During this stage you will communicate through “guided communication” as a way to give you and the other member a little bit of security until you both agree to move forward into the next process, which is called “Open Communication”. The reason for this security is because:

* A lot of people are unsure about what to say to someone new. This guided process of communication helps to “break the ice” and allows members to learn more about each other through guided exchanges of information before they have to jump right into free back-and-forth chatting.

* You have the ability to ask important questions of the other members that can help you decide whether or not you wish to keep talking with this person.

The eHarmony Guided Communication process is made up of 5 important steps:

#1 – Read the “About Me” information provided by your match.

This helps you to find out more about the other person before you even start communicating with each other.

#2 – Choose 5 questions to ask the other person from a list of questions that is provided by eHarmony to help you ease into conversation. All you need to do is check a box via the website to choose the questions you want to ask the other person. Then, the other person can choose to answer those questions from a set of multiple choice answers, or they have the ability to give a lengthier answer in their own words. Once these questions are all asked and answered, the table turns and the member is allowed to now ask you 5 questions from the list.

#3 – eHarmony encourages members to exchange a list of 10 things they “must have” and 10 things they “can’t stand”, again from a check list of traits in a list provided by eHarmony, to help the other person learn more about what you like and dislike in other people. The other member will send you their list after they read your lists of “must haves” and “can’t stands”.

#4 – Now it’s time for the second stage of questions, where once again eHarmony asks you to choose 5 questions from a new list to send to the other member to answer. And, once again, the process and return are the same as in step one.

#5 – The members enter into the stage of “Open Communication” after Dr. Neil Warren Clark, the founder of eHarmony, gives a bit of advice to the members about advancing with the program. At this point the members are allowed to communicate freely via e-mails with their match – if they both agree. This is a huge step in the process, so it’s time for congratulations! At this point you will be taking some major steps toward determining whether or not your match could end up becoming an important part of your life.

Something important to remember is that all eHarmony can do is to introduce members together that are compatible and help to steer them into the right direction through effective communication. The support team at eHarmony does not go out with you on the first date and they can’t forced your match to like you any more than they do on their own. Once the match is made, the rest is up to you. In order to get the most out of your first date, be sure to be at your very best.

If you haven’t dated in a long time and feel a little out of the “game,” there are several free advice and support opportunities available through the eHarmony program once you get to the “Open Communication” phase. You can join in on the eHarmony advice forums, which provide a lot of great advice about relationships and dating. These boards are frequented by other eHarmony members that also post questions and messages to the site.

The boards are easy to navigate and extremely helpful. You can ask questions and join in on discussions anonymously to get all the support and advice you will need.

If, after you’ve tried the online support services, you fell like you still need some help, eHarmony also has a few books written by the founder Dr. Neil Clark Warren for sale on the site.

My Final eHarmony Review:

The eHarmony program has been responsible for bringing together thousands of weddings each year. The best way to get the best results while using the eHarmony program is to get as much as you can out of the service, and be sure to take your time. You really can get a lot more out of eHarmony than just dating matches and long-term relationships, the advice and tools provided there can help you to further discover yourself.

Think about how many truly compatible people you have met or dated throughout your life. For most of us, those types of relationships are few and far between. At eHarmony you are invited to learn more about yourself as well as other compatible members as you take on what could be an exciting dating journey.

Most people sign up for eHarmony’s 6-month subscription program in order to get the most out of it. It is important to slow down and take the time to get to know yourself throughout this process in order to be in the “right place” emotionally and mentally as you prepare to enter into a long-term, committed relationship with the person that just might be the one true love of your life.

But, don’t take my word for it.  Check out eHarmony for yourself through the link below.
